Creature Creation Puppet Camp

An exciting new 3 day Puppetry Arts Camp for ages 8 through 15! Starting on Wednesday July 31st and ending on August 2nd.

This 3-day course will break down the history of this ancient art form and the various styles of puppetry and teach students to make (and take) a variety of style of puppets. From professional puppeteer and fabricator, students will get everything from the basics to professional tips and tricks to make high quality puppetry art.

This workshop can support 15 students and the registration is $120.00 for earlybird registration and $150.00 for regular registration.

Last day of earlybird is July 1st . Sibling discounts are available!  1st sibling at $120, each consecutive is $100 until the week before the start date. (Please email backfencesociety@gmail.com to arrange registration details).

Hours and Curriculum Hours are from 9 to 2pm, Wednesday July 31st through Friday August 2nd.

We will break for lunch at noon. Please provide a sack lunch and snacks for your child. Our workshop creations will culminate into a display opportunity on the evening of Friday the 2nd with a small reception at 6:30pm, the students will then present their work through a procession through Downtown Vista at 7pm (Friends and Family are welcome!)

Day1- History and Styles of Puppetry- Shadow puppet basics-Make and Take Day 2- Moving mouth demonstration and Festival Giant Puppets crash-course Day 3- Making our Festival Puppets for Reception and Procession and wrap up Day 3 evening (6:30pm) Take out Giants and procession through Downtown Vista (7:00pm)!

Parent or guardian will sign waiver the first day of camp. Pick-up will require photo ID and must be listed by parent or guardian as adult with permission to pick up child.
